The People’s Republic of Negros: A Novel

The murder of his sister plunges Mark Anthony Gonzalez, an unpublished and uncredentialed writer from Dumaguete City, into a well of violence and discourse implicating a bookworm Japanese retiree from Davao City; an ex-US Marine who wants to escape “the bullshit of America”; a bellicose drug addict in a rehab center in Cebu; and a writer of tabloid smut pseudonymously named Antigo Mokayat. Meanwhile, a thesis manuscript of unknown authorship also finds its way into Mark Anthony’s hands, threatening to reveal a historical conspiracy that might shake the city’s foundations.
