(E-BOOK) Japan and Southeast Asia: Continuity and Change in Modern Times

Much of the scholarship on Japan-Southeast Asia relations has resolved around the traumatic years of the Japanese occupation of Southeast Asia from 1942 to 1945.  Since then, Japan’s relationship with Southeast Asia has highly evolved, yet research on this connection in the years after World War II remains limited.

This book aims to enrich our knowledge and understanding by presenting insights into the changing dynamics—political, economic, social, and cultural—between Japan and Southeast Asia.  The book covers three periods: the nineteenth century to 1941, 1942-1945, and 1945 to present times.
