Casaysayan nang Pasiong Mahal ni Jesucristong Panginoon Natin na Sucat Ipag-Alab nang Puso nang Sinomang Babasa is perphaps the most significant Tagalog Religious text of the nineteenth century. A verse narrative about the life of Jesus Christ, set in the context of Creation and Parousia, and written by unknown Tagalog poets. It is a compendium of religious ideas and sentiments that have shaped the outlook of countless Filipinos. The genesis of this text, its sources, its theological and moral teaching are analyzed in this critical edition, which not only reprints the 1882 imprint of the Casaysayan, but also provides an English translation and extensive textual, literary, Biblical, and theological notes.
