“Sagip-Guro” Campaign for UP Diliman and UE Faculty

Date:
Sunday, April 10, 2016 - 8:00pm to Friday, May 6, 2016 - 5:00am

A Consortium of Philippine Publishing Houses announces its “Sagip-Guro” Campaign

THE SALE HAS BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL 6 MAY 2016.

As many of you are aware, last Friday a fire ravaged the Faculty Center (Bulwagang Rizal) of the University of the Philippines. Affected were the College of Arts and Letters (CAL) and the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP). Last Saturday, the College of Arts and Letters and the College of Engineering of the University of the East (UE) were hit by fire, too.

The Ateneo de Manila University Press is cooperating with the University of the Philippines Press and other publishers in helping the faculty of the CAL and CSSP rebuild their personal libraries. It is including faculty members from UE in its effort.

The Ateneo de Manila University Press is holding a general sale—all books at half-price—from April 11 to 6 May.  The sale is open to everyone, not just to donors or to teachers from CAL, CSSP, and UE. But the free book is only for faculty members of those colleges.

In addition, starting on April 11 and until May 6, faculty members of CAL, CSSP, and UE will be entitled to one free book each, to be checked against a master list of the affected faculty members from UP and UE. The free books are given only once per faculty member. Repeat visitors will not be given any more books.

For tracking purposes, buyers from CAL, CSSP, and UE are requested to bring an ID.

Foreign orders are welcome. Discounts will still be given but shipping fees will apply. For payment options, please write to msanagustin@ateneo.edu

The funds for the free books are to be sourced from donations to the university press. A donation less than 5,000 pesos entitles one to a book from a select list. A donation of 5,000 pesos entitles one to any book on the catalog. Donations beyond 5,000 entitle a donor to more books at a rate of one book per 5,000 pesos (e.g., a 10,000-peso donation entitles one to two books; a 15,000-peso donation entitles on to three books, etc.).

The press will welcome donations to this cause until April 15. Donations will be deposited in a DCB created for this purpose. For inquiries, please call Anne or Gemma at 426-5984. The press is also accepting donations thorugh the following accounts:
